Moskalkova proposes to reform stage of initiation of criminal cases in Russia

MOSCOW, June 10 (RAPSI) – Russia’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova proposed to review or reform the stage of initiation of criminal cases during her meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

According to Moskalkova, numerous complaints the ombudsman’s office receives are concern illegal and unjustified refusal to institute a criminal case, red tape during investigation and disregard of a victim.

Apart from the above the human rights commissioner proposed to grant applicants a legal status, consider the matter of free legal assistance for them and return to prosecutors the right to control investigators.
