Prosecutors to seek seizure of $62 mln from Moscow Region’s Klin District’s ex-head

MOSCOW, May 15 (RAPSI) – The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office will file a lawsuit to forfeit assets worth nearly 4 billion rubles (about $62 million) from the former head of the Moscow Region’s Klin District Alexander Postrigan, who stands charged with abuse of power and forgery, to the state.

The claim will be lodged with the Klin City Court of the Moscow Region, according to the statement released by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Prosecutors believe that ex-official used his job position for personal profit. He misappropriated 407 items of property including apartments, land plots, a recreational compound and others in the cadastral value of 935.7 million rubles, 4 cars totaling to 9.4 million rubles and monetary funds worth 3 billion rubles, the statement reads.

Earlier, the Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow extended detention of Postrigan until May 27.

According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, between 2011 and 2013, Postrigan being the head of the Klin District’s administration, signed a dwelling-house operation commencement act in in breach of law. However, investigators believe that the defendant knew for a fact that the required works were not executed onsite and that there was a material inconsistency of the constructed facility to the planning documentation.

The building was commissioned, and people became inhabited there upon a program on removal from dilapidated housing. By now, defects that may lead to the building damage have been found, investigators claim.
