18:02 06/12/2018

MOSCOW, December 6 (RAPSI) – The Gagarinsky District Court of Moscow has sentenced former investigator Roman Boldyrev and attorney Kirill Kulyavtsev to 10 years in penal colony for corruption, the press-service of the Investigative Committee has stated.

Each defendant has been fined 12 million rubles ($179,300).

The court found that on July 20 and August 21, 2016, Boldyrev received 600,000 rubles in bribes from Kulyavtsev, who acted as an intermediary for his client seeking preventing of the latter’s detention as well as extension of preliminary investigation and house arrest detention. According to the agreement, Kulyavtsev took 200,000 rubles ($59,800) for himself. During transfer of a second bribe he was arrested.

Also, in 2016 Kulyavtsev pressed the mother of his client to transfer 12 million rubles through him as a bribe for law enforcement and court officials as payment for requalification of a criminal case. Investigators noted that the attorney had no intention to help his client and planned to steal the money for his own personal use.

Neither Boldyrev nor Kulyavtsev admitted wrongdoing.
